Week 1, led by Rodney & Debbie Cook
Week 2, led by Andy & Miriam Jelfs
Family camp is a holiday with a difference. It provides:
- Christian activities
- Free time
- Good food
The camp programme includes Family Time each morning, which we encourage everyone to attend. There are also organised activities each evening. On Sunday there are activities organised throughout the day. During the daytime, Monday to Friday, there will be free time to explore places in the area or to enjoy the facilities of the site, including the beach.
We will provide breakfast and cooked evening meals. You will be responsible for midday meals, although there will be breads and spreads available.
Young and old, single or married are welcome.
You can either hire one of our large family ridge tents for only £35 or you can bring your own tent or caravan for a £25 site fee. Dogs are not allowed on site.
Rod & Debbie Cook

“Debbie has been involved with Suffolk Christian Camps for over 35 years, as a camper, a camp worker and then leader of Family Camp since 1999. Rod has been on the organising committee since the late 1970s and this will be our 9th year of leading Family Camp.
Rod and Debbie have 4 children, now aged 16 – 23. Several of them have enjoyed camping with Junior Camp at Sizewell and have also been involved as tent leaders and workers.
Over the years we have found God speaking to us in a special way at Sizewell. We have been challenged and encouraged to deepen our relationship with God through the sessions, conversations with others and also ‘time out’ with God.
It’s also through camp that we have made many lasting friendship. Our children have really enjoyed Family Camp over the years and again, they have gained so much from the Christian teaching they have received and the friends they have made.
Many people come back year after year to Family Camp – it is a combination of spending time with your own family, other families and God, in a lovely setting, with good food. There is a good mix of teaching sessions for the various age groups plus free time to relax or swim or visit local places of interest.”
Andy & Miriam Jelfs
Hi everyone, we’re Andy and Miriam, leaders of Family Camp Week 2 for the past few years. We both became Christians in our early teens in Devon where Andy worked with the Forestry Commission before studying at Moorlands Bible College. Miriam trained as a psychiatric nurse in Plymouth and worked in several local hospitals.
We moved to Halstead in 1967 to work with ‘Counties’ in evangelism and Bible teaching in East Anglia, and for the last seven years have had a pastoral-care role within ‘Counties’ too. Camps and houseparties have always been an important part of our work, and we especially value the atmosphere Family Camp provides for all ages to learn and grow together in faith.
In our free time we enjoy reading, gardening and crosswords, Miriam’s music and Andy’s artwork, and spending time with our godchildren. And we love walking and bird-watching, especially on the north Norfolk coast. Our favourite holiday is chilling out on a narrow boat on the canals of Shropshire and north Wales!
Please pray that this summer each camper will meet with God in a personal and memorable way. Thank you for your interest and prayers.
